The German soprano and vice-president of the Friends of Teatro del Lago tells us about her experience at Teatro del Lago and why she thinks this theatre is one of the most important cultural centers in South America.

Dear Friends of Teatro del Lago,
Ever since I heard of this project, and especially since I first visited the unfinished theatre in this magical place, then still under construction, at the end of 2009, I have been fascinated by it! This meeting of pure, healthy nature, art of the highest calibre, brilliant architecture, all in the spirit and in the service of the region and of education in and for culture – all that commands the utmost respect! From my own experience I know how difficult, but also how meaningful and valuable it is to bring such a utopia to life in a disadvantaged area, and what value it adds. In this, Frutillar is similar to our own little festival in Portugal (www.marvaomusic.com) – both of them contribute so much to the flowering and development of people there! This is worth any effort and labour, and Teatro del Lago has demonstrated this for many years. It is a great model for all of us!
